Many of us got our first glimpses of lasers when watching science fiction movies or reading science fiction books. However, today, lasers are used in several different areas of medicine and dentistry—periodontists such as Drs. Kwon and Tase have worked to integrate lasers into their dental practices, allowing them to help patients achieve results with less bleeding, pain, and anxiety.
The team at Monadnock Perio & Implant Center in Keene, New Hampshire, integrates lasers into several different dental procedures, including general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, preventive treatment, and restorative dentistry.
Drs. Kwon and Tase and the team assist patients with a wide range of services. Below, we have listed just a few of the laser treatment options we offer at our practice.
In the earliest stages of periodontal disease (gum disease), you may not even notice any symptoms, or you may experience just a few seemingly minor symptoms. However, bacterial infections can destroy teeth, gums, and even bone when periodontal disease is left undiagnosed and untreated. Specifically, the leading cause of loss of teeth in adults is gum disease. Our dentists use Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP) to effectively treat gum disease and even restore and revitalize your oral health.
LANAP is a minimally invasive surgery that is performed for patients who are experiencing later-stage periodontitis. LANAP is a specialized treatment modalities that can ONLY be delivered by certified surgeons. We are proudly the ONLY LANAP certified surgeon in the Monadnock area. Furthermore, LANAP is the ONLY FDA approved laser that is intended for periodontal regeneration (i.e. regeneration of bone).
Rather than using scalpels, we use laser dentistry to remove diseased tissue and revitalize gum and bone tissue tissue. When gum disease enters late development, gum tissues can separate from your natural teeth, causing the formation of pockets where bacteria can get trapped and grow and thrive. With the LANAP procedure, diseased tissue is removed, and the gums are reattached to your teeth.
Here are some of the benefits of the LANAP procedure.
In many cases, laser treatment can ensure precise results while also helping you to avoid extensive discomfort and pain. When you opt for laser treatment, you can be comfortable knowing that our highly trained and skilled team can provide you with essential services that work to restore your oral wellness and health.
It’s common to see that laser treatments result in less discomfort, fewer appointments, and proper treatment of several different dental problems.
